The Eurasians were treated harshly as the Japanese felt that they were a threat to them. Some Eurasians were members of the Singapore Volunteer Corps and had fought against the Japanese.
Many were put in Prison Camps. Those suspected of helping the British were put to death.
The Japanese did not respect the Allied Prisoners-Of-Wars(POWs) as they believed that 'one who had been captured ib battle should be beheaded or castrated at the Emperor's will'.
Despite harsh punishments ,the POWs kept their spirits high by organising activities and events e.g they set up a 'university' in the Changi Prison camp to share their knowledge and skills with one another.Lectures on General Education,Business training,Languages,Engineering, Sciences,Agriculture,Law and Medicine were conducted.
To boost their morale, the POWs put up plays and a number of Variety Shows.I remembered vividly that the POWs staged the Play:Romeo and Juliet which I acted as Juliet.
